Getting Wimbledon Tickets
“How do you get Wimbledon tickets?” - is one of the most popular questions from my tennis friends.
I know of following options but I am sure there are other options that I am not aware of.
- Queue (overnight queue if you want good seat)
- Enter Public Ballot (ticket lottery)
- Keep an eye on ballot returns (Wimbledon resell the tickets from those who won ballot and chose not to attend).
- Debenture (season tickets / very expensive)
- Buy from resellers such as ticketmaster.co.uk or stubhub.ie. Those are tickets from debenture ticket holders.
- Compete in Wimbledon tournament and get to Quarterfinals
I got my tickets from ballot returns in 2022.
I also got my tickets from ballot return and queue in 2024.
Very important : Wimbledon allow only two tickets per household. Once you got two tickets, you will not be able to buy more.
Ballot Process
It is quite simple. Start with joining “MyWimbledon” and enter Ballot - around September.
If you win, you are set.
If you do not win, Wimbledon will offer you to check for ballot return. If you have enough patience and time, you will most likely get ballot return tickets. I did.
You will not know the seat number before you buy. But you will have general idea of where the seats will be.
Seats and Matches from Ballot Return
If you are lucky, you can get very good seat (such as front row of baseline) from ballot return. I was not very lucky with seat in 2022. But I saw Rafael Nadal vs Taylor Fritz Quarterfinal in Center Court. As of today (Aug 9, 2024), due to ongoing injuries, it seems like I have seen Rafa’s last ever match as Wimbledon.
